Can you do it yourself?

Mounting needs a tire machine, so most people buy tires and let a shop install them.

Common questions

How long do tires last?

Usually 40,000 to 60,000 miles, and sooner for performance tires or hard driving. Age matters too, so check the date code.

Should I replace all four?

On all-wheel drive, yes, because different tread depths can strain the drivetrain. Others can replace in pairs.

How do I check the tread?

Put a quarter into the groove with Washington's head down. If you can see all of his head, the tread is at or below 4/32 inch and it is time to shop.

How much does tire set (four tires installed) cost?
