This is the range for the most common fix, diagnostic scan (check engine light). Which repair your car needs depends on a proper diagnosis.

The manifold absolute pressure sensor reads the pressure in the intake so the computer can work out engine load. The signal it sent is much lower than the engine could ever produce, which usually means a bad sensor, a break in the wiring, a missing ground or a vacuum hose that has come off.

Failed MAP sensor

Drive gently to a shop. The car may idle poorly or stall, and the computer may guess fuel mixture.

What you may notice

Common causes, most likely first

  1. Failed MAP sensor
  2. Open or shorted wiring
  3. Disconnected vacuum hose
  4. Bad sensor ground

Check this first

Check that the sensor's vacuum hose, if it has one, is attached and not cracked, and look at the sensor plug for loose pins or corrosion. A bad ground can also cause this, so ask the shop to test that.

P0107 questions

MAP or MAF, which is it?

They measure different things. A MAP sensor reads pressure in the intake, and a MAF sensor measures the volume of air entering. Both help work out engine load, and the code number names which one is at fault.

Can I replace it myself?

On many cars it is held by one bolt and a plug, so replacement is simple. Confirm the diagnosis first, since a bad ground or a vacuum hose can set the same code on a good sensor.

Why does it stall?

The computer needs this signal to set fuel, so a wrong value throws the mixture off. At idle, too little or too much fuel makes the engine unstable and it can stall.

How much does it cost to fix P0107?

The most common fix, diagnostic scan (check engine light), has a typical range of $55 to $250 across the US. It is an estimate built from parts prices and local labor wages, not a quote. Your car and shop change it.
